The Fiction We Live...

I Follow Random People, It's my nature

1 note

Was it silly of me to expect that this tripod would hold the camera level?

I guess when I threw out the receipt and the box a few weeks ago I was assuming (always a bad choice) that this relatively cheep tripod would work just fine. So when I tried to use it last night for some slow shutter portrait shots it wouldn’t stay level, tilting to one side ever so annoyingly slightly. How utterly disappointing and useless.

So last night, aside from the failed photo effort, I carted 3 dogs down to the free rabies clinic. Can you blame me for trying to save $200+ bucks at the vets? I go late to avoid the 500 length line but of course they have run out of vaccine. Seeing how the little one pukes on both sides of the trip it became my second utterly disappointing and useless adventure of the night.

But really, it was on the way back when I saw flashing police lights up ahead. I turned down the stereo when I thought I heard a pop of a gun shot. As I got closer I saw the cop on the side of the road and he shot again. I’m like, holy shit could this be a shoot out? But as I passed I saw a deer lying on the curb, still alive, its tail wagging in pain and confusion. I assume (this time not such a silly thought) that there would be another shot, but I did not hear it.

I recall, sadly, a few years ago, holding my dog just after the vet gave him a shot to put him down. I held him tight and whispered to him as he passed on. Toughest moment in my life so far.

It’s kinda nice out now so I’m gonna take my 4 babies for a walk.
